-Urban Alphabet

Urban alphabet a collection of objects which have been discarded on the street. In their original position, these objects have been taken from the same angle as new products one is invited to buy online. Today the catalogue has around 250 categories.

When I started this series, I had no end point in mind and no idea of what I would find. As the collection of objects grew, I began to categorise and classify them.

It was important for me to exhibit this work back in the environment from which it had been taken. I wanted the images to create a dialogue with a wide audience and so decided to display these findings alphabetically on banners

The alphabet created the idea of storytelling where the narrative changed each week with a new letter being introduced. The project took 26 weeks in total and was shown in fourteen locations across the borough of Haringey, London, predominantly hung near parks, schools, playgrounds and bus stops.

Each week the banners were rotated until the full alphabet had been exhibited on each site.
